As there are often questions about pickups, and there are few good sound samples, I thought folks might be interested to hear the blended signal of my Meyers clip-on mic and EMG's ACB magnetic banjo pickup.
This is purely the signal...this was recorded from my DI into a Zoom H4 recorder. There's no acoustic tone of the banjo mixed in here, so you get a sense of what it would actually sound like to an audience.
I spent a lot of time trying to get the EQ and the balance of the two signals to sound as good as possible. This is about 3 parts pickup to 2 parts mic.
The best sound is from an equal blend, but this 3:2 blend helps reduce the danger of feedback with the mic.
