Anyone have any thoughts as to the "ideal" number of bracket hooks that should be used on a 12" open back with a skin head? I seen 'em with as few as 14 and as many as 30. Thanks for your time.

I can't comment on it from a technical standpoint, but from a convenience standpoint when changing out a head it'd be nice if I didn't have to unscrew 30 hooks.

I think it also depends on the type of shoes you're using. Round ball type shoes will tend to tilt more than traditional L shoes if there's not enough. I used 18 ball type on my 12" rim, and I wish I had used a few more because some are tilting a bit.
