Hi
Just ordered some minstrel banjo strings for my A scale fretless 23inch scale . What can I expect to find the strings to happily tune to - E or F?

I have a 25 inch scale with minstrel strings on and tune to D and E so I would think the 23 inch scale would go to F without issues. You won't know for sure until you try. You might like E tuning so much that you never want to take it to F.

I have them on a regular scale 12" head and they tune to anything you want to tune them to. I like low tuning so C position is actually A. But they also work FINE for standard pitch. They are very resilient.

From other reports on BHO I think these strings can stand much higher tension than the original product. I run the Polymer Strings group page here, and the links I collected on there show how much more reliable these strings can be now. I use a different make on my banjo, but it seems that most threads on Aquila strings are much more about people's worries about this brand as opposed to people testifying how fast they broke. Like I said, people hear bad things, but as an interested observer there is a marked decrease in people having a bad set these days (anecdotal evidence only).
