I decided the price was too high and dropped it to $1450+shipping. I think this is a fair price for a mint condition 2006 Bacophone plus in maple. The only change from leaving Bart's shop is the scoop and the 7th string spike, both done by Bart. Plus it has a like new bump case with the leather handle.

I took this banjo to my tech today and had him check it out. the fret ends need a little trimming down. No big deal after 10 years, even in a climate controlled room. The neck was straight as could be. The prior owner told me he never touched the truss rod. We tried medium and light gauge strings. The banjo seems to sing with light strings, which surprised me, but what do I know?

Somebody is going to get a fine banjo that really rings out.

This configuration is my personal favorite. They don't come up for sale very often. If I didn't have two (2) already, I'd be a buyer.

For anyone who may not know, the "plus" is what we used to call a "hot-rod" set up. In it, Bart replaces the outer skirt of a whyte layde ring with a full spun Bacon-style donut. That adds a Dobson-like finish to the punch of the WL.

My bacophone-plus banjos are stained dark. I like the natural finish on this one too!
