I recall a post a few months ago, perhaps by Rudy, describing a second generation of Aquila Red strings.  Like many others, I really liked the Reds when they first came out, but strings 1 and 5 were really fragile compared to Nylguts.  So is there indeed a newer version that is more durable, and how do I ensure that I get the latest rather than more of the original stock?  Is there a different part number?  Thanks.

Hi Parker, It's probably this topic:

The new formula is much better.  They still won't tune up to A/D on my 25.5" scale but my current set has been installed several months now with no problems in standard tuning (I capo up for A/D).  The part number is the same - 11B  Red Series Classic Banjo.  There is a sticker on the packages with the run date, the first set of new ones I got were dated 7/2015.  The new ones are still a reddish color but more brown than red.

Thanks, Rudy.  That's the discussion I remembered.  I tried the search function but didn't come across it.  Jim, I'm hoping to get to A/D with my old no-name 25.2" scale banjo, but maybe that's asking too much.  When I had a Goodtime, I'm pretty sure I tuned it that high with Sands strings.  I'm going to try a set of the new reds, either way.  I'm not a big fan of capos, but I can hang out in double-C.
