I'm thinking about it (or something similar), maybe sometime in the future. Post a video! Let's hear that thing in action!

I've watched that several times, but it's nice to hear the banjo in the hands of a few different players. Zepp and JDMC also have videos of them in action. I'd love to hear the Rambler Dobson played alongside a standard Pisgah Dobson, too. Alas, there are no Pisgah dealers within 1000 miles of me where I can try one.

quote:Tried to make you a video and can't get it uploaded to You Tube ....pain in the butt....says I'm trying to upload a project file and has to be converted. I'm using Windows Live Movie Maker. Anyway that's why I stopped doing vids some time ago....can end up spending half the day trying to get it to You Tube and then back here. I'm sure that others with at least a bit of computer literacy could do it a lot more efficiently than me.

No worries - get off the computer and play that thing, then!

I think I got it....Short bit of Wolves A-Howlin' arranged by RD Lunceford.youtu.be/ZnmReNq3dDY

PS.....don't hold my playing against Pisgah.....It is a fine banjo in spite of mesmiley

I think I've finally learned how to do it....usual playing quaility disclaimer......Big Liza Jane/KyleCreed/doubleC tuning youtu.be/jP8wuuyy2VI

Anyway, I hope these two videos give you an idea of what this banjo plays like in the hands of a rookie.....Zepp can make a broom stick sound like something you want to immediately go out and mortgage the farm on!

I've got a Pisgah Possum and a Rambler coming in the next week or so. Hard to beat these banjos, especially for the price.

Sounds great!

Fred have you played a Pisgah Possum or seen one in hand? I haven't seen one. David E.

I also LOVE my Pisgah Dobson Rambler :)

GrizClaw - Posted - 07/21/2015:  08:46:39

quote:It's funny skiffle but in my short and un-illustrious.......but exciting banjo career, I've owned 12 banjos (some very nice and fairly expensive) . Only two of them have been in that category of; can't put them down and every time you walk by them, they must be played. The Pisgah Rambler is number two.....My dealings with Patrick have also been first rate! I am not very good at writing formal product reviews so this thread is intended to give potential banjo buyers my views about Pisgah banjos based on personal experience. I know it is hard to make decisions when you can't touch and play instruments in advance. Most of my purchases have been "sight" unseen, thus so many banjos in short period of time....and I must confess, a little BAS thrown in the mix as well.wink

I have a Rambler w/ Dobson tone ring. I love it. Recently pulled the first 7 frets and installed a German silver overlay to make it semi-fretless. Came out pretty well. Will have to post some pics here.

I've been looking at these for awhile...now I'm looking at one that's at Elderly, and I...cough, cough...want it... ;)

I'm sure enjoying mine Noah....it's a fine banjo. We ought to keep this thread going with peoples' Pisgah...dreams, aspirations and most importantly....Aquisitions.....pictures, sound files etc!
