The simple answer is yes. I had Patrick from Pisgah Banjos install one for me while I watched. The process was identical to other materials, as far as I can tell.

Richlite is harder to drill than wood. I've broken many of drill bits installing rr-spikes in this stuff. I used to use a hand drill but now I use a drill press for more accuracy and precision. Use a drill bit the same size of the spike and drill all the way through the fingerboard, about 5mm deep until it just touches the neck wood below the fingerboard. The spike may be a perfect fit in the hole but then I drive it into the wood the rest of the way to hold it in place. Hold the head of the spike with a pair of needle nosed pliers while driving it with a fret hammer. You don't want to drive it through the Richlite or else you will just bend up a bunch of spikes. I recommend practicing on a cheap banjo or hard piece of plastic or wood before attempting it in your banjo. Spikes are hard enough even without the Richlite. You can always take it to a music store who have done this before. Its usually pretty cheap to have it done. Good Luck!
