Nice looking banjo. Title is wrong (1935), but the main body of the ad does say 1925, and says it has the "shotgun skirt", although the photos don't show it.

One thing I always wonder about........why do the people posting these ads always say  "...the serial number is 8XXX-XX..."

Why won't they just post the serial (FON) number !?!?!

Looks like a nice 1926 based on the 82XX...

Althought it could be an EARLY 1926 and be a transitional model that had the shotgun BB skirt.

Mastertone on the headstock would also indicate 1925. But with Gibson, you never know.

Yes... true... so leads me to believe maybe a very early 1926?  Maybe carried that over for the first few or had some extra peghead inlays laying around.

Looks like a nice example to me.

So what's it worth, do we think? Is the asking price fair?

I would like to see the FON and label, and the shotgun skirt.  I'm not doubting they are there and I believe it's legitimate.

These do make GREAT banjos. I have one with a Sullivan BB to Flathead conversion ring and a Hatfield neck... it sounds phenomenal.

I'm thinking it's priced about right.

A NEW neck is going to cost you $750-$900 plus new tuners (or at least the 5th string).  Less if a used one.

There is a 1925 TB-4 conversion on the classifieds for $3500.
