I would like to believe that the volume of responses to this 'TOTW is explained by both the beauty of the tune as well as the fact that it should not be played at blazing speed in order to keep the loveliness and feeling in..

The Bluegill Buddies rock -- very gently! Nice duo. I know how special it is to perform with one's spouse.
Anything James Bryan plays seems to turn to gold. Fortunately the new TOTW, Piedmont, was recorded by James. That's the version I'd like to learn.

Bit of applause for the Bluegill buddies. Don, stand up with your wife and take a bow.

Wow! Are you sure that's not a fretless? Those slides express the sentiment of bluesy relief. Your first version was more peppy. I like this new one, too, and it's more true to the James Bryan melody.
I wonder if that's how I'll retire....The work is hard, as mill work must have been for Joe Blalock, but there's wonderful aspects to it, such as comradery, goals accomplished, services done. And then of course looking forward to some days or months off from a work schedule, and for Joe he was going back home.
Like you, I've come back to this tune again and again and always there's more to get out of it. Thanks for sharing version 2, Joe.

Thank you, jojo25. Those slow slides to the f note inspired me beyond just strumming the chord.
It's now even more fun playing the tune.
