Thanks for posting! I've always wondered how he colored his heads. I always thought he dyed them, but from the photo it looks like he just paints them from the inside.

Also in the Nashville Craigslist. The head coloration, while a very cool concept, is a bit much for me. But Doc makes very nice banjos.

Regarding coloring: They are all dyed, not painted, mostly using wild plants/bark/fruit his (~ten year old in 2014) daughter gathers on their property.
