No banjos, no guitars and not a country band.

No links to the music [as the language is often of a mature content]. Their politics are bang up to date though.
This band has stopped me in my tracks and made me access what it is i am supposed to be doing on just about every creative level.
Apologies if this is not for you.

Imagine that! A band called the Sleaford Mods, whoch, were any of us to post a video, the languagfe would get those Mods reported to these Mods!
I can't even post both words in the title of the song I found.
No problem with "Jolly", but a potentially HUGE problem with the second half of the title.
Enthusiastic delivery, buy the lyrics aren't particularly lyrical.
Still, they're doing what they enjoy, and those of us who don't enjoy listening, have no obligation to buy their stuff.

Wow. Angry musician currently insults musicians who tell him they like what he's doing.
Angry musician has had band disintegrate because he gets into coke.
That was as far as I got in the interview from the first link. He sounds like a poser, one who defines himself by what he isn't as opposed to what he is. That's okay, because there's room for music from all kinds, even if some have to go after others rather than letting the listeners decide.
I hadn't realized that the "Mumfordization of British culture" was such a problem, and that one had to embrace such as this character to get away from music which has apparently shown to be popular.
All those listeners to Mumford and all the other musicians whom this guy attacks are clearly needing to be put in their place. Thanks for the heads up with that interview!

This topic qualifies for a link to the punk rockers group.

I've got to agree, sounds like a poor version of John Cooper Clarke.
banjo bill-e - Posted - 11/02/2014: 06:56:55
Compared to that I'll take the "Mumfordization" any day. I can't call potty-mouth mumbling against a monotonous thud "music" and I can't call those two a band.
He seems like a pathetic whiner and a miserable person so I can't understand the appeal.
mike gregory - Posted - 11/02/2014: 09:02:15
With any luck ( for him) there are a lot of miserable whiners for whom he can be the potty-mouth spokesperson.
With a lot of luck (for humanity as a whole) there will be ever more banjos being played, with any amount of strings, in any number of styles, most of which will make the world a slightly nicer place.

Mike, you are [as always] an illuminating force.
Bill, the appeal [if you like] lies beyond the obvious deconstructed aesthetic and in the utterly sublime nature of the message.

Frank we just have different definitions of "sublime"! That's cool, glad you found something that reached out and grabbed you. I do know what it is like to hear something that turns your world around.
