Hey guys and gals. Just wanted to give a quick plug for the Bluestem hand-drum travel banjo.
Rudy was kind enough to sell me his prototype a couple of years ago and i use it as a hiking/backpacking banjo.(Thanks again Rudy!)
It weighs in at just under 2lbs, so it is perfect for a hiker, light and quiet.
I just finish a trip in the Ozarks on the OT where it rained, sleeted and snowed on me.
Its a sweet little fretless 'jo that has held up thru several week-long trips.

Hey Rudy!
I was hoping you would post that video, I don't have any of myself playing that banjo.
I almost wanted it fretted remember? Well I'm glad I didn't. Those notes sure were slippery at first, but I'm starting to get the hang of fretless now.
And I think the fretless suits the mood better for why I have it, mostly playing around campfires!

No log for us!! We got 3" of rain the day before, all the little mountain creeks became rivers overnight.
The water was almost waist deep at the middle of the stream. We had to strip down to our skivvies to cross, lol.
One friend fell in, the current was strong and the rocks underneath were super slippery.
The whole time I was just thinking "Don't drop your banjo in the water, don't drop your banjo in the water, don't drop your banjo in the water."
