I purchased a Prewar II mounted calf skin head on auction. The description noted Jos Rogers maker.
The head has a pencil inscription of "bought by XXX in 1937 and owned until 1950 on the rear side.
Beneath this there is what "appears" to be a lighter" pencil" signature of Jos Rogers Jr.. This what I seen in the auction pictures.
A half inch down is a type set MADE IN USA Delay Brand
My understanding is that the Jos Rogers heads would usually have a watermark of name brand. I can't find one on this head.
The skin is is in mint condition and does, in all ways, seem to be as old as advertised.
Any comments with experience of older heads, other than they are a pain to keep tight and tuned?
Upon better light and magnifying glass the "Delay" brand may be " Daisy" brand." I don't know with my eyes, I have in mind getting a BB gun to chase a few farell alley cats away and I got Daisy BB gun on my mind".

Daisy was indeed a brand of Rogers head. Unlike the 3 Star and Union Brand, the Daisy was "a little off in color". Great history of Rogers here.

I am going ahead {huh} and have a luthier mount this one. I will give a reply as it breaks in. It probably would break if I put it on!
