Gibson started making guitars and banjos with the S.S. Stewart brand name in 1930 for Beugelseisen & Jacobson, a New York-based wholesaler. B&Js 1930 catalog also shows two SSS mandolin banjos, and I am not sure if they were made by Gibson or not. What do you guys think? It's the two on the right.

The catalog page does not show Gibson made instruments. Most S.S. Stewart stamped banjo mandolins were manufactured by Slingerland. I have seen at least one S.S.Stewart banjo mandolin that was the same as a Gibson MB-11.

Well, if there is anyone out there that has pix or any additional information about a Gibson-made SS Stewart mandolin-banjo, I sure would love to see it.
