I own two banjolas (manufactured by Edward Dick in Colorado) and occasionally break a string... ONLY the 5th string. As a result, I have some partial sets of banjola strings, all missing the 5th string. The package describes them as Classical Banjo strings made by Aquila. Does anyone know where I can buy "individual" nylon strings? I've aske Elderly and Just Strings and they all say "no". They must originate somewhere. Thank you!

What about fishing line? I've read that its been used as banjo strings. Don't know what test you'd need but maybe you could find it in a search.

If those fifth strings are all breaking in the same place, check to see if you have a "micro-burr" on the pip or bridge. It doesn't take much to nick a string and WHAM, it's gone. Banjered
