What brand of hide head has the following emblem on the inside? I have never seen it before.

Are they a decent head? This one is very old. Feels pretty thin too.

Stern hides are great. I use them regularly. There s a photo of a new on on my BHO blog.
How old is the head in your photo? Ludwig used to use a very similar image on their logo.
But ... Jeff stern bought the equipment and business from the former United Tanning Co. - maker of heads for Ludwig, Slingerland, and others.

Here is an old Ludwig logo. This was a translucent hide - and so marked.

Mine does look like it has something written in the middle of the cow it's on one line and I can't make it out.

I think the regular Ludwig hides said simply "Ludwig" on a single line.
... I'm trying to imagine a chicken hide banjo head. Feathers might be aproblem.

Maybe it would help some folk achieve that much sought after "Cluck" sound in old-time frailing playing :-)
