Hi all!
Pete Seeger's death has inspired me to add some decoration to my banjo head. I really liked Pete's "this machine" quote but I've chosen to write "Ad Astra Per Aspera" meaning "through hardships, to the stars". I got it from the classic banjo song "Ad Astra. Here it is: youtube.com/watch?v=kM7IBnqTO2...ta_player
I was thinking of using a permanent marker to shade in the pencil lines that I've traced out. Any tips? Have any of you written stuff on your banjo? I'd love to see!
I'll talk to you guys later!

Head right on over to the "Banjo Head Decoration" group here on BHO. There are several pickers who have decorated their banjo heads with art or words.

Sir
acrylics work real nice on a banjo head. like paul said, 'banjo head decorations' is where you want to go. sharpies will work, but they will fade a little over time.

My new banjo head is stamped "American Made Banjo Co. "BANJO" head made by Remo USA. " That's all that will ever be decorating it.

Finally got round to writing in the letter. I used a sharpie (even though many players warned against it, I think it would have been incredibly messy had I used acrylic). What do you think? (Sorry about posting this in the wrong place by the way)
