Now THAT is the best version of this song I've heard anywhere on any instrument.

You are absolutely amazing at interpreting these type of songs.

Well done!!!

How do you pull such gentle tone out of an instrument that has so much bite? Up from the bridge maybe.

That's a wonderful rendition Laurence as are all your tunes,....maybe it's because you're a Londoner, a happy Christmas to you and your family.

banjoholic - Posted - 12/15/2013:  05:40:46

I agree with all of the above - wonderful. And the tone is great - what kind of pick up are you using?

Thanks! No pickup - but I am using a mute. A Mike's mute actually. It gives the banjo a lot of sustain but it greatly increases the pick noise so you have to really change your attack to compensate.

Laurence-  I love the way you hear this tune.

Laurence et al, As this forum has progressed, I remembered that "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is a sad song from the 1944 musical movie, "Meet Me in St. Louis." A family is about to move to New York, separating youthful lovers. This song is to me the most memorable thing about the movie. Thanks for presenting your wonderful banjovial version.
