I don't see this among Stanleytone's (awesome) collection of tab, and I can't tell from the MIDI if the "banjo lead" tab version on the site is the Stanley style one. Tips for this?

Flattery will get you anywhere on the hangout!
Here is tab to Ralph's "Live in Japan" album version of Pretty Polly, along with the recording.I always liked this version bettere than the studio recording, .It doesn't sound as rushed, and his singing is tops on this one.You can substitute the bottom line for the one above it if you wish.
those little arrows just mean to choke the note.instead of choking you can do a 3-4 slide.
I think he plays it in Bb on this recording.
I didnt mention the key in the tab.

Thank you!!! Your tabs are a real service to the site.
I guess the final thing on my wish-list would be some TAB for the Stanley "Cluck Old Hen" [although as a relative beginner, it occurs to me that not all of Ralph's versions are going to be so different from standard versions, like the many Cluck tabs that are available here ... I can't really tell].
And I take it that the Japan album is great? Going to get that now ...

i love the way Ralph played sometimes an open B string and sometimes the Bb on the 3rd- very spooky!

thats a good insight into ralph's playing...........he is very subtle when throws in things like that.it almost sounds like a mistake.

Hi Gary,
I've just finished putting your paper tab of Pretty Polly into Tabledit. Tell me if it's ok to post it in the archive with bas and guitar backup...Thanks Gary, great job of tabbing it....Jack p.s. I kept it in G for practical Tabledit reasons...j.

This is great - thanks! I find it much easier to learn a song when it's in Tabledit....
To play this in Stanley style - should the thumb be limited to just the 5th string & the index used for the 4th string hammer-ons etc?
Jack Baker - Posted - 11/23/2013: 07:05:53
Just follow the fingerings I put in the archived version of Pretty Polly...Jack
