Here's one I haven't seen before ....... a Rogers synthetic head. I've seen Jos. Rogers stamp on hide heads for some nice banjos, and I wonder if it's the same Rogers. Head is stamped so that the logo is readable from inside the pot, not from exterior. Banjo is a old, no-name (maybe Gretsch?) tenor.

Yes, this was the same Rogers as the old calfskin heads. The on-line sample from the Rogers Drum book is incomplete, but it suggests that Joe Thompson, a musical repairman & inventor involved with Rogers Co., may have been responsible for those all-metal Dixie banjo-ukeles.

There is a good book on the history of the Rogers company. I have not read it all...but I've seen a few segments. From what I understand, Rogers started as a natural hide drum head enterprise long before actually making drums. They made the best quality calfskin heads available at the time. The drums came later probably as the hide head business was on the decline.
This has to be an early Remo weather king plastic head re-branded by Rogers. As such, I think it is an interesting artifact from that period.

I also have an unused 'Rogers' mylar head. I inherited it from the late Winnie Winston when he passed. I was surprised as I didn't think they were made.

Since it's also stamped "WEATHER KING" (and the stamp is the same one used on the early Remos), the head was almost certainly made by Remo but sold under the Rogers name.
