Here's a neat little recap of the IBMA Awards at the BluegrassToday site. The guy who put the video clip together, John Goad runs into Mike Munford (2013 Banjo Player of the Year) on an elevator and gets some neat clips with him. You can see how touched Mike is about winning the award.

What a good video clip! And I LOVE that particular version
of Little Liza Jane! I've heard that version before, but for the
life of me I can't remember who it was that recorded it that way
with the medium tempo? Does anyone know?

There is a short version of it on YouTube. Super pickers #3. They used to have the name Goodbye Liza Jane posted but I see they don't now. I like it at the more moderate pace as well.

It sounded to me like a tune called "Goodbye Liza Jane" from Bluegrass 95, which features Scott Vestal on 5 String, as well as Aubrie Haynie, Adam Steffey, Wayne Benson, Barry Bales, and Clay Jones. They did a series that is absolutely amazing. 95, 96, 97. All Bluegrass fans should have a copy of each....Not to be missed. Not to be shill for Amazon, but here's the link: amazon.com/Bluegrass-95-Variou...egrass+95

Little Liza Jane and Good-Bye Liza Jane are different tunes. I always liked "Good Bye" better. One of my favorite fiddle tunes.

Great to see Mike so happy with the big win this year, he deserves it.
I also saw on that link pasted above Tony Rice's acceptance speech last night for his induction in to the hall of fame. He has been working on getting his voice back and you've got to hear him change in to his old voice about half way through this speech. It's more than amazing, it feels more like it's in the category of miracles. Give a listen:
