Here's a VRB-3 Truetone that will also be at our IBMA booth next week. This banjo features the "wreath" pattern on the peghead and fingerboard, a rare inlay variant which is not illustrated in our catalog. Gibson originally designed this inlay for use in their style 5 banjos, which were discontinued in 1928. In 1930 several batches of style 3 banjos (tenor, plectrum and five-string) were produced using left-over peghead overlays and fingerboards from the style 5. Our banjo is a tribute to those instruments.

Ah-ha, my Mullins conversion neck has the same pattern. Now I know what to tell people who ask why it's different from a normal 3 pattern.

Wreath has always been my favourite inlay. Ever since my Ibanez Artist banjo came with it in 1980.
