Played on my Cloverlick banjo by Jeff Kramer.
Thanks for looking, and listening.
Play hard,
Lew

Nicely played, Lew. Very pleasant. I can definitely hear the Dwight Diller influence in your right hand. Good-sounding banjo, too. I await more from you.

Thanks for those kind remarks.
As I said in a blog yesterday, two days ago I posted a Youtube video of me playing Lee Hammons’ Calloway on an A scale banjo.
I learned the tune in the early 1990s from Dwight Diller, and was prompted to revisit this great tune when I saw an 8 September 2013 video posted on Youtube of Dwight doing the tune:
youtube.com/watch?v=A1sn3U26bzI
I sent an email to Dwight with the link to my video of me doing the tune on the A scale.
Late Monday night I got an email from Dwight. He had seen the video, and told me that it’s time to go back to the woodshed for some remedial banjo work.
“I think I can really help you now. Probably a couple of days is what is needed.” So, he’s planning a trip to Staunton. I’ve been trying to get him here for a while, hoping to set up some local concerts and maybe a workshop or two, repeating what we used to do when I lived in northern VA.
Anyway, it’s nice to be reminded that in this music one is always a student.
Take care. Play hard,
Lew

Very well done.
I really enjoy playing this tune because one gets into a "zoned out" state when playing it. Coincidentally, I posted my own effort in the videos section yesterday, then was pleasantly surprised to run across your post here this morning. Great minds? Or deranged minds working together? ;-)
Our approaches are quite different -- mine emphasizes rippling notes and yours accentuates the beat. Beat is good. I think yours is better than mine. Hats off.

Hi Bill. I hadn't noticed your addition to the video library -- I'm just learning that dimension of the BHO experience. Nicely played. And you're right, it is one of those tunes that a player can quickly zone out on. Nice comfortable groove emerges and I find myself playing it over and over again. Hounds don't seem to mind, though they do like faster dancing music. Thanks for the nice word. I liked your work, too.
I believe you may have attended a workshop or a house concert at my old place in northern Virginia some while ago. I think we met somewhere.
Play hard,
Lew

Nice job. I liked the slow increasing boil you had going on--if that makes sense outside of my noggin.
