I had the pleasure of visiting with David and Lena while they were in the states this summer. I saw and played this banjo while David was in my home. It sounds and plays very good., I think this is an attractive early instrument from an up-and-coming young builder.

So was this the same banjo that David brought to our jam in Louisville? I played his banjo, and it had a sweet sound with a very nice bass bottom. I only played it for one tune, and obviously I didn't ask enough questions about it. David told me he used Bill Rickard as a parts source, but I didn't realize it had a Dobson tone ring. I loved the feel and the way it played. I'm sure John Balch gave it a much better workout than I did ;)
