Just read about Slim's passing. RIP Slim. He was a great,and solid crooner. His powerful yodeling also saved the world in the movie Mars Attacks" when their heads exploded while hearing a recording of Slim yodeling. great stuff.
My mother still plays the record she ordered off the tv. She's eighty seven and still sings along with "his wonderful , beautiful voice"

I remember back in the day, I would be watching TV and Slim Whitman commercials would come on. And they would say, "He outsold both the Beatles and Elvis in Europe."
And I was thinking: "Yeah, sure."
But the article said he recorded 65 albums and sold millions of records. And he had a song at number one on the British chart for 11 weeks.

My Mum and Dad loved Slim Whitman and I remember them taking me along to one of his concerts in Southampton U.K.
Must have been around 1974.
One of the great crooners and will be sadly missed, he had a lot to do with forming my love of Country, Folk and Bluegrass music
