You can find out if it's registered with the copyright office by going to the Library of Congress copyright search site.

Like Beegee said, you can find out if it is registered, but that doesn't mean it isn't copyrighted. Intellectual property is basically copyrighted when you create it and registration is recommended but not required.
If you didn't write it and it's newer than 1923 chances are it is copyrighted by some person, attorney, or corporation.
