A friend has two B&D Silver Bell tenor banjos. He wants to sell one and keep one.. One is a Montana #1 serial number 22,xxx. (1927...tone ring with holes). The other is a Sultana #1 serial number 34,xxx. (1936...solid tone ring.)
Both are in very good plus or excellent minus condition. No issues. Some fret wear but plenty of life left. Amazing sound. There is one knee mute between the two of them (not currently attached). From looking at others online, they are normal varieties of their kind...
If he's thinking of value, which one would he keep and which one to sell? And how much would each one sell for?
