Miles Krassen and several friends played at the Albuquerque Folk Festival this weekend (June 1, 2013).

I was actually able to upload the forty five minute long video of this event.  Take a look and see/hear all the good tunes played (on fiddle) by Miles.

Tunes include in order played.

Miller's Reel, Red Apple Rag, Silly Bill, Uncle Charlie's Breakdown, Birdie, Isom Waltz,Ducks on a Pond, Dubuque, Dusty Miller and Rock the Cradle Joe.

The versions are NOT always what you have been playing, but are more original SOURCE versions.

Miles relates the history of each tune, and is accompanied by some of Albuquerque's finest.

Excellent. I really like that Mexican guitarron!

Scott Mathis is the person who taught me Purple Lillies - playing that guitarron.

Youtube is really weird.  J-Walk - did you see the 45 minute video last night?

It now is showing as just 1:19 minutes, so I am re-uploading a new video this morning and it should be available this evening.

I have no idea why Youtube changed the time limit on it.

For now, anyone who wants to watch part of the show, can see Miles Krassen (fiddle) with Wayne Shrubsall on banjo playing the style of Wade Ward.  The tune is Birdie, and it is really my favorite of the entire movie.

I once spent a little time with Scott & Linda, and also Larry Edelman, at a music camp a few years ago. We had a little band that played the Guachi tunes like Purple Lillies - really fun music! I have a CD collection of music he was passing around at the time - I should dig it out and learn some more of those tunes.

Would have loved to hear Miles Krassen - thanks for posting the video!

Miles is inspired to do more of these performances.

We will all be in Santa Fe, NM for the SW Picker's annual event - late August. Usually Scott and Linda play as performers, but there is always the opportunity to jam with them - and with me, Wayne, Michael, MIles and Yigal.

The Santa Fe Festival is a whole lot of fun.  There's a lot of picking, camping, weather is usually great, good performers.

I'm encouraging a trip for Banjo Hangout readers - come to Santa Fe and meet and play with us.

Damn!  Says it's a private video.

BANJOJUDY - Posted - 06/04/2013:  11:06:38

It is private because it is only 1:19 minutes long now.  For some reason, Youtube had it running correctly yesterday, and today it is very much shortened.

So, I made it private, and am uploading it again - it is only 30% uploaded and probably won't be finished until late tonight.

In the meantime, watch Birdie - see above messages for link to it.  It will give you an idea of the show.

Actually, the original video was the full length, even though YouTube claimed it was only 1:19 minutes long. It plays long past the 1:19 mark.

BANJOJUDY - Posted - 06/04/2013:  11:52:01

No, John.  This morning it would not play past the 1:19 minutes, so that's why I took it down.

The new one will be up tonight.   Patience, folks, and meantime, just listen to and learn Birdie cause it is a way cool tune.
