I really haven't heard a thing. I was surprised when they stopped making banjos since that was one of their best instruments. Their mandolins are also well loved but their money may be from electric guitars. At least with electric guitars, they don't have to worry so much about the type of wood.

I just looked at the Janet Davis website and they show no new Gibson Mandolins.

kipper is correct - they are making them, but I don't think at nearly the production level prior to the flood. Tooling up for making mandolins is not nearly as difficult as for banjos.

They are making them. Try the Mandolin Store. I have an F5G that is a great instrument and was made since David Harvey has been there. They are turning out some nice mandolins.

Right now, under Dave Harvey's guidance, Gibson is building some of the nicest mandolins to ever come out of their shop in the postwar period...

Maybe they are, and maybe they aren't. Doesn't matter to me.
I've got one they made back in 1916 which suits me just fine.
And I'm not shopping for another.
