What a  nice rendition of Carolina Rain by this family group.  Just got it from Bluegrass On The Tube.  When you hear this young lady sing it makes you wonder how in the world Taylor Swift made it - not only made it - but made it big.  I still scratch my head over that one - don't get me wrong - she seems delightful.  She just cannot sing.  I don't get it.

I have watched and listened to these kids grow up the last 10 years at local festivals here in Illinois. God has richly blessed them with their talent. They are great!!!

Good to hear Jim.  They sure sounded good to me.  And there is something special about family bands too.  I remember when the Whites first started to play publicly on the bigger stage.  I think Ricky Skaggs is either married to a White or is related in some other way.  But they always impressed me too.  I have seen a few good ones at local festivals as well and admire that they choose to make a modest living but love what they do as a family.

Thanks Mike.  I think that is how I heard about them.  Got a link to a video from those Bluegrass On The Tube guys.

Good video!  Now THAT'S quality family time!  cool

kmwaters - -  Yes.  Ricky is married to Sharon White (of the White Family Band).

Before she was married to Ricky, she was married to Jack Hicks (banjo picker

extrordinair with Bill Monroe back in the early 1970's).

Monroe could be a real jerk sometimes.  I just caught a video from the 70's with Jack playing Bluegrass Breakdown.  Monroe tells the crowd he is going to call on the "banjo player" and doesn't even mention Jack's name.  C'mon man!!

Bill did mention him on the 1973 Bean Blossom album.  smiley

But yea - -  Word has it that Bill was a crusty old %^&* to work for.

I guess there were good days, and then there was every other day.
