I bought a mint condition Ome Juniper Deluxe a few years ago from a guy on the BHO. He told me that it had a rolled brass tone ring, which is, I believe, standard on that model.
When I look inside the pot, though, I cannot see any evidence of the ring. Should the rolled brass ring (or hoop) be clearly visible when looking inside the pot? Does it sit on the inside, outside, or top of the rim?
I have heard some say that not all Ome Junipers had the brass rings. Maybe this one does not.
The banjo sounds great and I want to avoid taking the head off to answer my question if that is possible.
Thanks for any help or insights you can give to me.

If you go to Stew-Mac, look at the technical drawing on the rolled brass ring. You can probably see it with a dental mirror and a light. Otherwise, you would probably need to take the head off to see it.

The ring sets on the pot assembly and maybe recessed a little. I can see the one on my Juniper, but then I know where to look.

Here's the link to the StewMac spec. drawing.

Since the round rod rests at the outside edge, if the rim is thick as in the drawing, the rod would be difficult to see from inside without a mirror.

You guys are great for helping me out with this. I appreciate it.
I tried last night with a dental mirror but couldn't detect anything. I'll try again.

Junipers usually have brass rings but not always. I had a Juniper Deluxe that did not have one, the Ome paperwork described it as a "minstrel" rim, i believe. if you can't see the ring with a dental mirror i would bet that yours does not have one. Great banjo either way.

Contact Ome for more info. They are very helpful via phone or email.

I think some tone rings consist only of the small diameter brass rod that would be difficult or impossible to see without head removal. Not sure on this but the typical tone ring with the angled side coming down toward the center may not be the only configuration for tone rings, though the most widely used.
