I have a NOS (New Old Stock) 3 Star Rogers head (unmounted). Does anyone have an idea of what the value would be on this? Thanks, Stacey

So this is an unmounted hide head? New ones are $9 -$30 depending on size and finish. Natural are cheaper and white are more. An old one might be dried out but it might be fine too. I can't see it selling for much more than a new one.

Yes, this is an unmounted hide head, that measures 14-1/4" across. Thanks

Someone had a bunch of NOS not too long ago but I don't remember what they were selling for.
Vega used 2 star and 4 star.

The really nice Stern heads are around $80. Of course, if it is overly dessicated or rotten it is worthless. Do you have a picture of it? If it is in good shape, I would be interested in buying it from you. Let me know if you're going to list it.

It is in amazing condition, comes with the original tube, with wooden endcaps with a rubber air seal. Photo is attached

Very nice. Those have sold on ebay (but very rarely). I can't remember ending prices.
14 1/2" is sufficient to make an 11" head.
I think a good-condition real Rogers hide should bring $90 -125. It would be ideal for someone with a collector-grade pre-war banjo seeking total authenticity. Personally, I would not use such a hide on a player banjo.
I'm linking this to the hide heads group.

Great photo. That is about like finding one of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Nice. I couldn't bring myself to mount something like that with the original tube and seals. David E.
