Thanks so much for posting this, I really enjoyed it. It was most informative. Cant say that the last electric banjo did much for me though.

I think in America from the very beginnings the term "Banjo" means 5-string banjo.
But, it would be cool to add one minute to the lecture (make an even 15) and team with a 4-stringer to include 1/2 century for the ragtime, jazz and swing eras with single string melody tenor, rhythm tenor or plectrum with a finale of either a Reser tenor or Peabody/Bechtel plectrum chord melody. By golly then we could get to see a full two hundred years of America's instrument.
Not complaining - just a fan of the Castles, sheiks and flappers and the sound of the flat picked other "Banjo".
