For those that missed it, Gold Tone introduced their new “American Collection” at the NAMM Show in Anaheim. This includes two “Made in USA” bluegrass banjos, the Iron Horse and the Southern Belle. The banjos are built in their Florida Shop. The Southern Belle features a traditional flamed maple neck with ebony fingerboard while the Iron Horse comes with a graphite neck. Both have a Bell Bronze Tone Ring and the Zero Glide Nut System.
It’s great to see another USA Made option. Congratulations to Wayne and the Gold Tone Crew.

That's great news and a fine idea by Gold Tone. I am a big fan of their banjos (and their good value) and look forward to trying the new American made models.

"Iron Horse" is a good name for a banjo, whereas , IF any of my opinions were humble, it would be my humble opinion that "Graphite Neck Horse" is a simply AWFUL name for a banjo.
I finished one Gold Tone kit for a fellow who bought the kit (partially assembled by the previous kit buyer) and couldn't figure out how to apply the downloaded booklet to the actual parts before him. (Turns out it was a slightly different pile of parts!)
Then I made a banjo from a Gold Tone kit, and the eventual buyer just LOVED it. ( I hated to let it go, since it looked so good and sounded so good.)
If my work with their stuff turns out that well, THEIR work with their stuff is going to be outstanding!

There's no mention of these new models yet on the Gold Tone website, but I'll be looking forward to learning more about them.

I see they are using a violin grade maple rim on those models ..... I guess that's going to be the next big marketing term in the rim business !

I find it odd that Gold Tone "hid" the Iron Horse specs in the Tenor Guitar section of their Product menu.
Maybe its a Stealthy banjo ;~))
