I bought this 8-stringed instrument thinking that it was a half-breed between a Weymann neck and a ????? pot. The neck is a "mandolute" neck; wiki Mandolute. The neck has light fret wear and it's a good fit to the pot, also closely resembles the Weymann mandolute neck in the Wiki citation.
Does anyone recognize the pot ? It has an aluminum base and a machined, bright metal, archtop tone ring. There is a thin wooden spacer between the aluminum base & the tone ring. The wooden spacer extends out under the decorative trim, probably to keep it from rattling against the pot. Pot is pretty heavy.

The flange pieces look like Weymann and so does the decal..I think maybe the resonator was original and someone did some work with the rim..Just guessing

Very odd. I've owned a couple Weymann Mandolutes over the years, they have a very sweet tone...but an unfortunate engineering fault that causes them to self-destruct. I have two at the moment in the "rebuild" queue.
I've seen Weymann mandolin-banjos before but have never had one apart...so I don't know anything about their construction.

Here's a twin on eBay: Weymann on eBay
Looks like the one I found is a Style 6 that got the "Mandolute" decal on the back of the peghead.
