The resonator is faded because it was in the case?! Maybe I should leave my banjo out in the sun to keep it looking good.

I have mentioned that I am at work and unable to post photos. All my photos are on home computer, not this laptop. Will post photos either later tonight or tomorrow. As far as resonator back being faded, that was my guess. I don't play 5-string banjo. Acquired it in a trade in late 1970's / early 1980's. I am asking $1,000 for it because I have seen same models selling for $1,200 on Ebay. I also mentioned I will consider best offers.

I am "edgy" and not "courteous" because I do not trust people who come onto this forum with their first and only post to try and sell a suspicious banjo for a high price with no photos. If he wants to sell a banjo let him do it the correct way by posting photos and not saying things like the resonator is probably faded because it has been "in the case for many years" and that it can be "buffed back to health". He also says the guitarist at his church "liked it very much" as if that is supposed to show us he's an upstanding church-going man.

He may be on the up and up but his wording sounds just like a scam.

Thank you guys for the welcome comments. I thought I was specific in the original listing and I know that people sometimes don't read the entire posting before commenting. I don't take that stuff personal. I did say that I guessed that the faded back of resonator was from leaving in its case for years and I am no expert. Maybe others here could offer reasons why it faded which I would guess it would not affect playability.
I'm trying to upload a few photos. I will list the serial number tomorrow as I don't wanna wake my wife up moving instruments around at 2:00 AM

I am not a scammer. I am trying to sell a quality vintage banjo that I do not play. I did mention that I was at work when I posted and did not have access to my photos which are all on my home computer. Maybe, er, people like you should read entire posts before jumping in with your sniping. I have just uploaded some photos which should help anyone wishing to make an offer.
Yes, I play on a church's worship team and the guitarist plays bluegrass and I brought it to church for his assessment. He offered to buy it and I did not find the price acceptable. I was not inferring that I'm an upstanding church-going man. I am a musician that plays on a worship team. I play primarily electric bass, some guitar and some mandolin. And, I do play banjo (4-string tenor, Irish tenor banjo, and 6-string banjitar).
Short of putting it up on Ebay, I thought this would be a place of interest. And, I do not trust Craigslist

I can vouch for the fact that the Ibanez clouding issue can be improved by warmth. I pressed an Ibanez neck to remove a hump, for heat I used a 110v Car Preheater and some Halogen work light, The neck was kept at near 140 F for 2 days. After this the cloudiness in the headstock was about half gone so it may be a moisture issue.

On the other hand I knew someone bought a Washburn Jethro Burns mandolin  in the 80's.  He stored it in the case once for 2-3 month and when it came out it was cloudy all over as the finish re-acted somehow with the synthetic plush lining, it cost him a re-finish job..

Thank you Maurice and Fathand on the possible reasons for the cloudy resonator back. The heavy hard shell case has some type of plush interior and the banjo was in the case for most of the 30 years I've had it.
I have many musical instruments and it's difficult to keep all of them out of their cases at the same time :-)

I had bought a 82 Goldstar that the resonator was like that and actually found out there were a few more like that also, the refer to them as cloudy's, I dont know if it's mosture or a finish proble, good luck to you.

Thanks HarleyO. I don't take that stuff personal. I was born in Italy and came here when I was 6. I endured the ethnic taunts from classmates (dago, wop, guinea) and never took any name-calling personal.
The only thing that upset me about this guy was that he probably has no interest in my banjo yet felt obligated to jump in. I'm sure he meant well and nothing was taken personal and probably not meant to be personal.

If you suspect that someone is a scammer, feel free to report it the mods, and we'll look into it. I think you're jumping the gun here, so to speak. If your only motivation was to protect other BHO members from a potential scam, then the "report to moderator" link is your best option.

Jakester, that model Ibanez may well bring a $1000. I would hold to that price for awhile unless you need to sell in a hurry. I have one like it with the vive inlay, except mine is the light maple wood instead of the dark. They are fine banjos for the money. It will help you sell it if you can get the cloudiness fixed. As far as the smarta** remarking poster, there is one on every forum on the internet. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks Charles in SC. As I mentioned I've seen this model Ibanez sell on Ebay for over $1,200. I was asking $1,000 or best offer, but I have lowered the price to $800 (firm). A gentleman has made an offer and if we seal the deal he has himself a beautiful banjo. If it falls through then I will stand firm on the $800.
I just sold a 1960's Epiphone FT-79 Texan acoustic guitar for $2,000. I could have held out for more, but I felt the offer was fair based on the condition of the guitar (repaired crack, some dings and dents).

@BanjoMikey: I grew up in Jersey City and spent many days browsing and buying in Pastore Music on 32nd Street, Union City. Bought a solidbody Winston Tenor Banjo there. Couldn't resist. Only problem is it sounds like an electric guitar, but you play it as a tenor banjo. I suppose it's great for a tenor banjo player who wants to sound like an electric guitar. :-)

Since I haven't heard from the picker who made an offer for this banjo I have decided not to accept his offer.
I have reduced the price to a firm $800 (plus $50 shipping and insurance) and posted more pics.
Someone just offered a Gibson L6S in trade (which was intriguing -- and worth more than $1,200) but I already have 4 electric guitars.

I have had an Artist since 1996 with a flying eagle on the resonator. Mess with it regularly and enjoy it a lot.
