Yo, what exactly is open C tuning ,does it require adjusting strings and learning new chord shapes?Bill

There are several different C tunings that I know of. There's "Drop C", "Double C", "Mountain C", and "Open C". What many refer to as "Open C" is g-C-G-C-E. That's the tuning JD Crowe used for "Bear Tracks". And, yes, the chord shapes are different.

Open C is g-C-G-C-E, I occasionally break the first string in that tuning. It is not a particularly common tuning but it has some nice sounds.
