My son, Thomas, ran across an ad on Craig's List for benches made from wood salvaged from UNCLE DAVE MACON's barn. So my children purchased one as a Christmas gift for me. I absolutely LOVE it!

Uncle Dave's homeplace is located a few miles from Murfreesboro on the Woodbury Pike. The property sold to new owners a little while back. It turns out that the buyer is planning to restore the main room in the home to look as it did when Uncle Dave lived there. He is raising money to help pay for that project.

The old barn on the property is in need of repair too. Some of the siding boards are deteriorated near the ground and must be replaced. So they are being removed. These benches are made from that lumber removed from Uncle Dave's barn. These are the REAL DEAL! supply is VERY LIMITED!

How cool is it to be able to buy an actual piece of uncle Dave Mcon's barn. I'm not sure but this may be the structure where he housed the mules that hauled his wagon back-and-forth between Murfreesboro and Woodbury for all those years.

$139.00 plus shipping.  Check the Etsy ad - These are TOO CHEAP.  I told him to charge more.

With John Balch's help this Christmas, I now have one of these benchs in my banjo room with a few Uncle Dave Macon items and a trophy picked up at the first year Uncle Dave Macon Days awarded Trophys. That is John Balch backing me up on his guitar low all those many years ago at UDMDs. Anybody that wants a piece of the Dixie Dew Drops history should consider it. I visited the Macon home many times when I lived in Readyville, Tennessee and this is an interesting piece of history...for sure. David E.

One more thing:  My son ordered these benches a few weeks before Christmas.  It took a good while for Ty to complete them.  They are each individually made to order...so the lead time might not be too quick.  But IMHO - well worth the wait.

That's some beautiful old wood there, what a nice son you have John. Etsy is a cool site, my wife has her art and jewelry on there. This is definitely a worthy project.
