I've been checking the weather between Salt Lake City (where it was shipped from) and my place, Missoula, MT. It's been pretty moderate and it's probably still 50 degrees here. Think it's ok to open it or should I let it adjust to the inside temp for a while....anticipation is killing me....thanks, Rick

I say open it up! But Im like A kid on christmas morning when it comes to getting a new banjo. I simply could not wait. And besides banjos are not as affected by weather and humidity as a fiddle or mandolin. Unless it has a hide head.

I would also strongly recommend opening it up and ripping into it.

There were 2 Bart Reiters sold on EBay recently. One was sold by Bart and then another one was listed in the "frailing banjo" section this past weekend. It sold pretty quickly at the "buy it now" price. Both were very nice looking banjos.

I bid on the one Bart was selling but it looks like you had faster fingers!! Congratulations on your new Reiter!!

I promised I would post some photos of the new Round Peak. Sound file to follow after a little practice. My assessment so far is AMAZING. It's beautifully constructed (hopefully the wood grain shows up in pics), it has a deep rich tone, highs and lows are pronounced (remember, I classify myself as a "purty good" novice so some of my terminology my be off)....bottom line is that it sounds really awesome. Everything people have said about Bart Reiter banjos is true, in my opinion. I've played Morgan Monroes, Gold Tones, Deerings and Enochs and for me this is the best so far. Now I just have to practice so I can do it justice.......Rick

There is another Bart Reiter now listed on EBay if anyone is interested. It is a Standard model and comes with a case. Bart is selling it so you know it will come set  up nice!

That's a great banjo. I'm jealous yours has a nice rim cap. The newer Round Peaks have that. I'll have to contact Bart to see if I can get that on mine. The mahogany he uses for the necks is really attractive. I think it's sourced from Africa. I got mine at Gryphon in Palo Alto. I had just sold a Reiter Regent which was my first really nice banjo and the one I learned clawhammer on. I played this Round Peak for a couple of minutes and bought it. I missed the Regent and this Round Peak spoke to me. Enjoy!
