Which string, Minstrel Nylgut or Sands nylon heavy, can you tune the lowest and still have a decent tone? I have a 26" scale that I'd like to lower to low D - dADF#A - but it is simply too slack and the tone goes, so I keep it in one key above in open E. I am wondering if the Sands Heavy would work in this situation? Perhaps I need a 27" scale? Banjered

Either string set will do, but Sands are generally thought to be firmer, you know give more resistance when plucked.
