Well guys, heres the end of the story, all fixed up. Its no new neck but it'll do the job.

(one of the photos shows me that i have to clean, the digital camera picked up all that dog hair! )

This is the response I got back from Deering.. In short I'm out of luck.

"Hi Dan,

Thanks for your patience. I reminded the quality control officer of your picture and have heard back from him.

The break on the peghead/neck joint cannot be repaired. You will need a new neck which would not be covered under warranty.

The cost of a new neck is $199 plus shipping. You can send the banjo to us to install it or you can install on your end.

We would ship the neck and hanger bolts UNINSTALLED as those need to match your pot assembly and would need to be drilled on-site.

The Quality Control Officer needed to be reminded, he has no name, he's in power, though, doing his appointed job.

The company will make 20 or 30 necks of this type with smug justification in the same time it would take to repair yours.

The Director of Public Relations has no name, either, and assures you there is nothing they WILL do, how about a nice hat.

Know that the company is concentrating on high end dealers in and out of the country. The Goodtime is a bread and butter line and should be just as important.

But they stated that the hanger bolts would need to be installed on site because the holes won't match your pot assembly. That's odd since this is Class A engineering, meaning it's an assembly line where every part is interchangeable. I'm sure the holes in the rims are drilled with a jig, as are the holes for the one rod system


There was another thread where a consumer asked for a Goodtime decal, he responded here in this thread. He was told he couldn't have a decal due to its exclusivity. He printed his own with colors, better than the original.

This just in: From HeliX Banjo Rims (TM) the Director of Public Relations, Quality Control Officer, Sawyer, axeman (trunk & large limb) and High Director of Our Given Right to Assemble will have a meeting today on Friday afternoon in the Helix shop. There will be a moment of silence, and then a collective unpleasant sound from the human body will be shared around the room, each one having their own distinct sound and odor. Judging will be based on originality, length of report, and time it takes to settle down after each presentation.

I Tried and tried and tried and aw heck in 2006, I made every professional approach I could without the slightest response. I watched the decal massacree on BHO. Now they sell parts.

See, if every finger joint that failed was replaced, well, that would create a freakin' saga, it's better than a billboard in rush hour. And quality could go up.

If you don't back up your product that is touted as Made IN USA, then service issues that are so public arise for the little guy who gets trampled. We all know a team is a group of people who also speak for Made IN USA, and EFFORT Made in USA is also part of the equation, Abe Lincoln walked to a person's home to give them their change back, how nice, American and noble.

So just because the minimalist Goodtime is made in USA is not enough for me. I tried to talk to this company, it just didn't work out. I promise to never forget the little guy.
