I've got an old Buckbee with an ancient skin head on it. It's as tight as the brackets will take it, but it's still not tight enough. Any tips to make that old skin shrivel up nice and tight?

If the crown is stretched too tall and there is no room to tighten further, the best thing is probably to install a new head.
If it were mine, I'd remove the old head (and save it). Then make a new flesh hoop and install a new goat hide. You can stain it for a distressed look if you like.

Mechanically, if you can find a thread die that matches the thread of your hooks, you could cut the threads of each hook up the shaft a bit further, which would allow you to pull the head tighter. I don't know what that would do to your tension hoop's height relation to the top of the rim.
Usual disclaimer applies. I have no idea whether you head would even survive the process.
