At some point I suppose you are supposed to change a banjo head. If you get your banjo head autographed, will these get messed up when you remove the banjo head? I really have no idea what a removed banjo head looks like. Thanks!

Not unless you remove the banjo head immediately after changing the oil in your car without washing your hands. The head will come off just fine, and you can even hang it on the wall if you like.

The head is not very three dimensional so matting and framing is fairly simple.  Any custom framer can do it without any trouble.  I bought Earl's autographed head from his website not long before he passed away and immediately printed out a nice picture of him and Lester to put inside the frame with the head in two separate cutouts in the matte.  Made a nice wall piece.  So get a good picture of the person who signed it and pair it up.  High resolution photo of course makes it better.

That's an excellent idea.  I've no autographed banjo heads,

but framing them with a pic of the artist makes a lot of sense.

Would keep them from getting "dinged up".

A banjo head is very easy to handle. It has a stiff outer edge that arches downward. It will remain stiff and circular when it is off of the banjo... it is not all floppy like you might think.
