A week or two ago, someone posted some pics in of a weird orange fungus of their juniper tree. I searched, couldn't find the original thread. We just discovered it this weekend and its apparently no big deal unless you also have apple trees (which we have several), or if the wife finds it disgusting (which she does). What did you do to treat it? Online help is pretty lame. I've got a couple of messages into to some extension service friends but thought I'd ask. Sorry, can't remember who originally posted.

We have them in Sweden. We call them Hawthorn Rust. They grow on both hawthorn and juniper and they must have both to grow.. The best way to avoid them is to remove them by hand as early as possible. There have been some fungicides for sale earlier, but they are not longer allowed here (they killed a lot of other things too).

dawgdoc, I was the originator of the thread about the cedar-apple-rust fungus. To answer your question about how I treated it....well, I didn't do anything. The cedars (with the fungus) are on my neighbor's property. He also has a few old apple trees nearby. I'm guessing he owns about five acres and it's all becoming overgrown with weeds and brush so he's probably not concerned about the fungus.
