Have noticed last few days the pages are taking a long time to go from one to another....used to be very fast. I always keep my computer defragged and run spyware almost daily.
Anyone noticed the same.

I've had problems for the last few days also. popups and unwanted downloads Vids aren't loading also.
jwoods - Posted - 05/16/2012: 20:47:30
There could be several things causing those kinds of issues...from malware to slow DNS servers (which lookup web site addresses like banjohangout.org and convert them to the numbered address system such as 192.168.1.1).
There is a very good website to check the overall health of your PC...it's called PC Pitstop.
You would run the "OverDrive" tool.
The site is free and you are not required to register, unless you want to save your results and compare them over time.

I never run spyware; don't know why anyone would. I've been having no trouble with BHO. Its loading speed has always varied.

Thanks for correcting my problem, Bill......you have the midas touch.....coulda been Eric compiling something.....anyway, for now it's better.
Thanks for responding.

Ditto for me, except for the chat never tried that.
Lots of hiccups lately. Every now and then get an Error 303 webserver busy screens.
All this never lasts for more than a few minutes, while other sites purr along fine.
Sounds a little like Denial-of-Service attacks....?
Whatever it is I'm sure Eric and the BHO elves are aware of it and on it.

Legitimate heavy traffic on a web site sometimes turns into a Denial of Service if it slows things down enough.
A "303" error usually means that the Web server thinks that it needs to re-route traffic to another URL (maybe another web server that's not as busy).

jwoods...appreciate your help but it's just this site......pretty sure Eric changed SOMETHING and it's having a tough time adjusting.....small potatoes considering.......
banjoy - Posted - 05/17/2012: 11:59:42
This website does not generate enough traffic to choke an Apache web server which can handle millions of hits and hundreds of thousands of unique visitors a day no problem without blinking. A 303 error indicates that the server is unable to handle the traffic, or that the webmaster has temporarily suspended all requests. As in for maintenance.
If it's on a shared server, which I believe it is, then add all the combined traffice toegther, might slow it down. Don't know how many websites Eric is hosting on the same server.
It was just an idea. There are lots of things that can slow a server down, including how it is set up. Something as simple as mod-rewrite done incorrectly can stop an Apache server.
Or, DNS can slow things down too quite a bit, depending on how the A and CNAME settings are, can change speed quite a bit by causing lookups on every single request.
I leave it in the hands of the BHO elves.

I can recommend trying the chat, because it has so many options and puts a new dimension to all the richness the Banjo Hangout has to offer. Its almost impossible to believe its al for free.

Don't have a web cam, may get one. I'm not much of a social network critter :)
...website is hiccupping again today. About 45 seconds to log in, lots of delays in pulling up screens.
I feel for the BHO guys. This stuff can make ya crazy. I'm sure they'll hammer this down as it comes up!

I am sure Eric is aware of the situation and is trying to correct it. Sometimes these server problems are a real pain to solve.
howseth - Posted - 05/19/2012: 15:43:58
Slower downloading forums the last 2 days here in Santa Cruz - particularly the Classified section. Sometimes won't load at all.
banjoez - Posted - 05/19/2012: 18:25:13
