Banjo builder Tommy George loaned me a new Banjo UKE to try. It is a VERY COOL instrument. georgebanjos.com/
This is #3 in a series of Art Deco inspired ukes. It has beautiful MOTS appointments.
IT is a concert scale instrument with an 8" rim. Man does it sound good too.
I snapped a few photos. It is an overcast day here so the lighting is not ideal. I'll post more pictures and updates as I get familiar with this fun instruyment.

Tommy confirmed that it is Maple - with black lacquer. He makes the necks, fingerboards, rims, and much of the custom hardware in his shop (incl: tension hoops, and end bolt). Coordinator rods& end bolts, and end and end bo

Pretty cool. Last year, I bought a chunk of aluminum pipe that's 9 inches in diameter and the ID is 7 inches. My idea was to build an 8 inch top tensioning banjo uke from it, though a typical bottom tensioning one is certainly possible as well. The piece is about 14 inches long or so if I recall. Once I get the appropriate chuck for my machine lathe ... look out.

I played its companion full-sized 5-string at Breaking Up Winter. Christian had it on display. Initially I thought the MOTS was silly but the more I looked at it, the better it got. It played quite nicely...
I like the "tuxedo" look a lot. I've got a Ricard TBP pot assembly that will eventually become a B&W banjo of some sort.
