would like to suppliment my steel string banjo with one setup for nylon playing. not having been exposed to any i was wondering if there are certain particulars that help make a good nylon strung banjo.
was wondering about:
scale length
pot size
pot wall thickness
heavy weight or light weight banjo(and i suppose this takes into account the number of brackets)
head type
frets:size
is there a certain make/model out there that is just the ticket for nylon
any other ideas/thoughts fully welcome

I have Nylgut strings on seven very diverse banjos: tiny (banjo Uke size) to large (banjo guitar size), small pot (8") to large pot (12"), gourd, resonator or open back, fretted or fretless, very heavy to extremely light, skin head or plastic head.
They all work well.
There's no particular type of banjo any more especially suited for nylon than there is for steel, in my opinion.

Im thinking you want some parameters , and Ill try to tell you what I would get, for what thats worth.
A 26i or 26.5 scale,,, the fiberskyn head , or better goat skin. Nothing real heavy, I had a heavy banjo and it was a drag to play. a 11" head, 12 sounds bigger but maybe a bit uncomfy.
If you could find a old buckabee that would be great, but I dont know how much you have to spend. hope you find one you like
