There's an Urban Legend (completely and entirely false!) that there was a motion picture being shown, the 1911 silent screen version of "The Poisedon Adventure", and that the passengers clamored for a second showing, and were so engrossed that they didn't notice the  bump, nor that the engines had stopped, and by the time they filed out onto the deck, most of the lifeboats were gone!

Never was a silent screen version.

Hey Mike, did ya hear that Mader's is offering the menu of Titanic's last first class meal on 15 April for $49., served with paired wines $69.?

It starts at 5 PM which is late enough that I could tour Lakeside Brewery before hand, like the time before last that I was in Milwaukee and ate at Mader's

but then again they gave me so much beer at Lakeside during the tour that I have very little memory of having been to Mader's for dinner later, much less what they fed me while I was there.

Geez, Penel! It's kind of embarassing to be invited to dinner by such a good-looking woman, with 65,000 of her friends watching to see if I've got the nerve to let a lady buy me a dinner, which would make me look like a freeloading bum.

If Mader's wanted to be REALLY authentic, they'd serve the dinner, and for dessert, pour eighty gallons of seawater down everybody's throat.

Oh don't you wish! But I was considering an adventure up to Milwaukee. I think what would cinch the deal is if my knitting buddies down here hired a bus to get us there and back

and if that happened we'd for sure have to visit Lakeside.

Last year's visit to Lakeside and Mader's grew out of my attending the Wis Spin In in a suburb of Milwaukee, which happens this year the weekend after Mader's special Titanic dinner. I really wish they'd all check my mind's calendar of fun stuff to do and co-ordinate.

I'm a sailor Mike. There's an adage that if you want to experience what it's like to own a sailboat you should stand in a cold shower and tear up $100 bills as fast as you can. I never thought about it in relation to the Titanic, but it works!
