No tonering the top of the Rim is beveled.

I really like your hardware as well. Can I ask what diameter rod you chose for your hooks, and what if any heating/annealing process you used for bending the hooks? I really like the shoes too! I might just have to emulate them on my build.
Also if it is not too much of a trouble, maybe a closer shot of the tail piece that also shows the attachment?

The rod for the hook is 4mm , I have a post in my blog about home made banjo hardware.pratinstruments.wordpress.com

I've been working on the cluck for a long time but now I think that I cluck too much! Now I'm learning to control the cluck.

i just finished a banjo with a similar tailpiece. the first thing i noticed is that the screw was starting to bend as i put tension on the strings. i cut and shaped another piece of bone that rests against the rim. i also noticed that alot of these style do have bent bolts. any problems with yours yet? looks good in the pic.
