I've heard/played a few different brands with whyte laydie tone rings-i like it!
for those who have tried them out(or own them), given the different wood combinations, what do you hear differently between the Reiter Galax and Regent.
I know in acoustic guitars the difference between a Mahogany and Maple wood instrument is strikingly different. I was wondering if that difference is as drastic in the open back banjo.
Given both have the same tonering set(whyte laydie), and built by the same man, is there a lot of difference in the sound between the two?
Sold my Ramsey Standard 12" and i'm looking for a slightly brighter punchy sound i keep hearing from whyte laydie tonerings.

The tonal difference in Mahogany and Maple is the same for the banjo as for the guitar, just not quite as pronounced. I have owned both models, both are excellent. The Galax is a bit smoother and softer, perhaps a tad darker, whereas the Regent is sharper, clearer, a bit brighter....those are differences, although subtle. The Regent seems also to have a bit more volume, but once again, barely discernable. Hope that helps. Aloha, PH

I was wondering what's the differences between a Reiter Regent and a Reiter White Ladye. I mean except the inlays.

Ho, the inlays are the only difference between the Reiter WL and Regent.
